Summer Review Packs for Kindergarten and First Grade

It's that time of year again! Some schools have less than a month left and everyone is looking forward to some summer fun. It's the perfect time to get SUMMER SKILLS REVIEW PACKS ready to send home with your students!

These booklets contain BRIEF YET MEANINGFUL math and literacy practice for kindergarten and first grade. Each booklet contains only 33 or 34 pages of material--small enough for you to easily copy. All of them are in blackline. They can be copied back to back to save paper.

A BOARD GAME is included with each set. This gives students a fun way to practice basic math facts and reading over the summer. The kindergarten set has game cards for addition, subtraction, sight words, CVC words, and sight word sentences. The first grade set has cards for addition, subtraction, sight words, blends/digraphs/long vowels, and sight word sentences. Parents can cut out the board and cards. Students can color the game board and play over and over again throughout the summer!

Each summer review workbook has ONE MATH OR LITERACY activity every weekday for 10 weeks. They contain brief reviews of several CCSS for each grade. For example, in the picture above, my son finished a few subtraction problems. Then, he colored a summer-themed picture filled with kindergarten sight words.

Pirate Cut-and-Glue Sentences for Kindergarten and First--and a FREEBIE!

I am so happy to have finished 2 sets of pirate-themed cut-and-glue sentences!  I have one set for K/1 and another for 2/3 (CLICK HERE to see the 2/3 set).  Each set helps students practice more than 100 Dolch sight words!

Two of my children just happen to be in K and 1st, so I had each of them complete one of the pages.  The pages for kindergarten focus on pre-primer and primer sight words.  Each sentence contains 5 words.

The sentences become a little more difficult by increasing to 6 words each.  More sentences with quotation marks are also included.  The "first grade" sentences include most of the Dolch words for first.
Like my other sets, the sentences help with sight word recognition, grammar, and punctuation.  I focus on getting students to notice which word has a capital, reminding them that sentences must begin with a capital letter.  I also have them focus on the punctuation mark at the end of the sentence.  Reading the sentence aloud not only helps them practice sight words, but it often helps them correct grammar mistakes.

Try them out in your classroom!
