Sight Word Practice FREEBIE!

Here's a very useful SIGHT WORD FREEBIE from Jessica at Deep in the Heart of Teaching. This 11-page set has students write, spell, and trace the following words: go, my, the, see, can, we, to, is, up, am, & at.

My preschooler is just beginning to work on sight words, so he completed some of the pages yesterday. Each page provided just enough practice to reinforce the sight word.

TEACHING TIP

Jessica says to use "letters that are the shape of the letter instead of letter tiles for beginning learners/readers. This ensures that the tactile learner can feel the shape of the letter as well as see it." I know working with the letters (a set WITHOUT magnets from Dollar Tree) was my son's favorite part!

Happy teaching!

Sight Word Scrambled Sentences for Spring!

Today, my own littles worked on sight words, grammar, punctuation, and reading with these sets of sentences. My oldest tackled the 2nd and 3rd grade set, while my middle son worked on the set for kinder and 1st. Cutting, gluing, and bright spring graphics made it an appealing, hands-on activity!

The kindergarten and first grade set includes 60 cut-and-glue sentences. Over 125 Dolch sight words are covered! The second and third grade set has 63 sentences. It focuses on  over 120 Dolch sight words. Both sets include pictures for text that might be unfamiliar to students.

If you haven't tried a set of these with your class yet, please download a FREE set HERE.

You can find the spring sets of scrambled sentences by clicking on the picture for the appropriate grade level.

Thanks for reading!

Word Work Pack for Kindergarten and First Grade--And a FREEBIE!

Click on the picture above to see this set on Teacher's Notebook.

The cover of one of my favorite resources recently got a makeover!  The materials in this set are very useful, but the look was a little outdated.  Of course, I have been using this set for quite a while, so I suppose it was just time for a small change.

This Word Work set is perfect for:

* Making, reading, and writing word families
* Practicing 18 blends and digraphs
* Filling in simple sight word sentences
* Beginning word searches focusing on sight words

The best part is that most of the pages can be completed AND cut apart to make books!  These are great for reading and rereading word families!  Students can read at school and then take the books home to read again.  Several more word family pages and word searches come with colorful graphics.  These can be laminated for use in literacy centers.

The picture above was taken from a similar, FREE set I made to accompany the Word Work Pack.  It has 10 pages of similar activities, also focusing on sight words and word families.  Click on the picture below to download a set!

I hope your students enjoy the FREEBIE!

Cut-and-Glue Sentences for Spring and a FREEBIE!

I just finished my latest product, "Cut-and-Glue Sight Word Sentences for Spring!"  It's a new version (new clip art, novel sentences) of my popular Cut-and-Glue Sight Word Sentences series.   Here are a couple of pictures from the Halloween version:

Students not only work on sight words with this product, but they also learn punctuation, capitalization, and sentence structure--all while improving their fine motor skills by cutting and gluing!
My students learn so much and enjoy doing these, so I think everybody's class should get some free pages!  So, while I was debating whether or not to offer a freebie, my 4-year-old daughter said, "Make a freebie, Mom!"  Even though I'm not sure she really knows what that means, it sounded good to me!
In my store on Teachers Pay Teachers, you get a page of each type of cut-and-glue sentence by clicking on the "Download Preview" button on the product page.  But this time, you can have 2 free pages THAT ARE DIFFERENT FROM THE PURCHASED PRODUCT (so if you buy it, you'll have 12 unique pages, not just a repeat page from the product).  The sentences on one page have 5 words each, while the sentences on the other page have 6 words each to allow for differentiation.
