Need to Read? A FREEBIE and the Set

CLICK ON THE PICTURE to see it on Teacher's Notebook.
CLICK HERE to see it on Teachers Pay Teachers.
Most of my students (and my 2 oldest at home) are at the point now where they need to just READ, READ, READ!!!   One group needs sight word practice.  Another group needs fluency practice.  My son just needs to spend more time reading!

So, today I pulled out these winter-themed beginning readers again.   CLICK on the picture to take a look!  They focus on sight words and have repetitive text, making them just right for beginning readers.  There are 2 versions of each book to help you differentiate for those students who can benefit from fluency practice.

We will be reading them at home this week AND at school.  After my students read them, they will take them home as homework.  The books will be placed in their reading folders when they are returned, ready to read over and over again!

Since I LOVE having lots of little books for my students, I also like to share them. CLICK HERE to visit a previous post with a FREE book to go with this set!  I hope your students enjoy the fun reading practice!

Chinese New Year FREEBIE!

Click on the picture above to download my Chinese New Year freebie!  This set is made up of activities that I have used in my classroom for years.  I just gave the set a complete makeover!

My students make the lanterns every year.  They LOVE painting the characters for the numbers and the lanterns are so easy to make!  Plus, they look very festive hanging around the room.

This set also includes some tracing pages to laminate for classroom use.  Be sure to include a red (for good luck and happiness) dry erase marker for some character tracing fun!   There are also 2 sets of addition pages both with and without number clues.

If you like this free set, you will also like my "Chinese New Year Cut-and-Glue Math and Literacy for Kindergarten."  I am leaving it on sale for only $2 until after Chinese New Year, 2014.  Click on the picture below to take a look:

I hope your students enjoy celebrating the year of the horse with these activities!

Snowman Place Value FREEBIE Game!

I am always looking for more ways for my students to practice place value.  For kindergarten, that means more opportunities to represent the teens using a set of ten and some additional ones.
For my students who have mastered the teens, I always differentiate the activity (in this case, a game) to include numbers above 20.  So, this FREE "Snow Much Counting!" card game includes 3 sets of cards:  #1-10, #10-20, and #s above 20.

If you could use another place value activity in your classroom, please click on the picture to download a copy!

I hope your students enjoy the game!

A Freebie for a Snowy Day

It's a SNOW DAY here in Chicago!  Well, a snow day AND an it's-too-cold-to-go-out day. What's a teacher to do on those days?  Work on freebies, of course!  And then, have the kids play the game to keep busy!

I actually took an old freebie and gave it a completely new make-over.  My "Winter Color by Sum Freebie" was always a great set of addition games.  Now, it's even better with new graphics and more pages!  It's a fun and engaging way for students to practice addition facts.  Plus, a little coloring (read "fine motor practice") never hurts!

Just click on the picture above to grab a copy of the FREEBIE!

If you like these games, then click on the picture below to see the whole set:

I hope your kids and/or students enjoy the games!
